The use of outdated versions of the jQuery library (such as 1.x, 2.x, or early 3.x releases) may pose a **serious security risk** to a website. The **jQuery** project team officially states that older versions are no longer supported and do not receive security updates. This means that known vulnerabilities — including XSS (Cross-Site Scripting) issues — will not be patched in those versions. Official information from the vendor: * Support page (details about unsupported versions): https://jquery.com/support * Security fixes introduced in version 3.5.0 (including XSS vulnerability patches): (https://blog.jquery.com/2020/04/10/jquery-3-5-0-released/)][https://blog.jquery.com/2020/04/10/jquery-3-5-0-released/(https://blog.jquery.com/2020/04/10/jquery-3-5-0-released/[/url)] It is strongly recommended to upgrade to the latest stable release of the library and to regularly audit all third-party dependencies. Keeping software up to date significantly reduces the risk of known exploits and improves the overall security of the application. Edited by Zbigniew on 23-02-2026 14:54 |
